Willie Coble Holmes

THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, October 1978: 'Mrs. Willie Mae Holmes, 76, of 1264 Graham, died at a local hospital Monday, October 2, 1978. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 4, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Homer Fendley officiated. Willie Mae Coble Holmes was born October 14, 1901, in Paris, a daughter of John Lee and Pruda Smith Coble. She married J. L. Holmes in September 1929 in Hugo, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1962. She was a member of Lamar Road Church of Christ. Survivors include one brother, Gilbert Coble of Magnolia, Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie McGraw of Jackson, Mississippi and Mrs. Martha Vanderburg of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ed Vincent, Durward Jenkins, James Smith, Marshall Herron, Fred Hodges, and Delbert Smith." Transcribed by Mary J. Tallant.
